British Exploring Society is a world class youth development charity with a unique heritage, founded on the belief that challenging experiences can transform lives, empowering and equipping young people with the courage, skills, resilience and determination to make the most of their future.

Most young people return with increased self-belief, a dynamic peer group and the determination and ability to make the most of their future, regardless of where they started out. We believe that young people need the right skills, behaviours, and confidence to tackle contemporary challenges and opportunities. In assessing impact, we consider our success in supporting young people to acquire these skills, behaviours, and confidence through our programmes. We deliver exceptional learning through exploration with life-defining impact to an increasing number and diversity of young people.

For young people aged 14-25

It doesn’t matter where your starting point is; you’ll return with more confidence in your abilities; greater resilience, determination and courage – and a sense of self-belief that will stay with you for life. While your place on expedition is primarily funded by grants, trusts and generous donors, each expedition has a fundraising challenge to help you to develop useful skills and confidence.
